What I...

What I listened to throughout Wednesday:

First Song - Minnesota, WI - Bon Iver
Walking to my first class of the day, Sport Data Analysis II in Falk

Song 2 - See You Again - Tyler, The Creator

After my first class, I walked to Bird Library to work on HW from other classes

Song 3 - Lover, You Should've Come Over - Jeff Buckley

While working on my homework from another class, I listened to both this song by Jeff Buckley, and song 4.

Song 4 - Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want - The Smiths

While continuing my homework, my playlist decided to queue The Smiths

                                                      Song 5 - Do I Wanna Know? - Hozier

After attending my last class of the day, I listened to Hozier on my walk back to my dorm.

Reflection:
When reflecting on the What I... project, my chosen topic, what I listen to, can be very reflective of a person's (in this case me) emotions and feelings going throughout the day. Starting with my first song, Minnesota, WI, by Bon Iver, it is a slower song with deep, heavy reverb effects throughout. I think I tend to gravitate towards Bon Iver's music particularly in the winter, as often I feel the more solemn tracks are more fitting amongst the snow and days with minimal daylight.

However, my next three songs are somewhat more upbeat, or at least played at a faster tempo. As the middle of my day begins, I often feel more rhythmic and faster songs are a better reflection of my current mood, as I walk between classes, or try to finish all my homework before it gets too late in the evening. Finally, my last song, Hozier's cover of Do I Wanna Know? again is slower, and again, matched my current happenings, that is walking back to my dorm in the dark and through the snow.

Selfies with a social conscience can refer to music, food, or personal experiences. While the What I Eat blog details meals of different cultures around the world, mine details 5 different songs I listened to throughout one day. However, both examples of this format can carry a deeper understanding of what an individual may experience. How an individual chooses to display their daily life, whether that be through food or music, can often be reflective of social experiences and cultural influence that is rooted in that person's identity and how they experience their daily life.
